The business centre that invests in innovation

Basepoint Business Centres provide a wide range of high quality workspaces to let. Not just serviced and managed offices, but also workshops, trade counters and studios. With managed centres in 31 locations across the UK, Basepoint has a suitable space for almost any business use imaginable. One of Basepoint’s latest centres is the Canterbury Innovation Centre inside the University of Kent campus. As the centre overlooked the campus in a prominent position, a shading solution was required that was bold and effective.

Lessons in shading and colour coordination

Basepoint wanted to use the Innovation Centre facade to show off its corporate colours and provide shading for the many diverse users; so a plan was developed to colour code the different types of offices. Using a shading solution to create this code seemed the perfect answer and Stansons the perfect choice to set the project in motion.

The Stansons Solution

As this was a building that would see a lot of traffic and use, Stansons proposed 127mm vertical blinds incorporated in white powder-coated headrails and colour-coordinated components with self-aligning tracks. The selected fabric was Stansons Pulme 1% range. A good choice as it is available in a range of vibrant colours to match the Innovation Centre logo - and is colourfast and fireproof to BS5867 Part 1. The whole system carried a 5-year manufacturer backed guarantee and has a 10-year life expectancy.

A dramatic and efficient shading solution

The effect of the colour coding on the exterior view has provided a dramatic counterpoint to the architecture. Whilst the internal shading has created a comfortable, colourful and efficient interior.
