State-of-the-art boarding house utilises offsite construction programme

Jun 30, 2017

Stansons Group are delighted to recently have been awarded the shading contract for ACS International School Cobham in partnership with leading offsite construction specialist Caledonian Modular. ACS International is a highly successful chain of international schools based in the UK and Middle East, providing international and US curriculum education to children aged four to 18.

The 113-bed development will see the construction of a four-storey accommodation block that will include student accommodation, supervisor accommodation, study areas and common rooms. It has been designed to complement the existing buildings on the 128-acre campus.

The accelerated offsite programme will reduce the construction period by 40% with the project utilising a mix of traditional and modular construction.

“The school sits within the Green Belt so height was a significant issue. The modular construction method reduces void space and allows the building to be lower while still providing the necessary accommodation on the site. The modular approach also provides a consistent build quality with units prefabricated in a factory rather than on site significantly reducing build time so the facility will be completed in time for the start of the 2017 academic year."

Stansons Group Armour range was a perfect fit for this modern development, providing a robust and contemporary system with intelligent fabrics to meet the requirements of the building without compromising on style.

“Boarding at ACS Cobham focuses on providing a ‘home away from home’ and retaining a family-style atmosphere. Our new facilities will enable us to further improve the boarding experience, with light, airy rooms, an array of social hubs and state of the art facilities."
Mark Venn-Dunn, Head of Boarding at ACS Cobham

The development has a strong sustainable focus and will be a welcomed asset to ACS International School portfolio.
