The Ripple Retreat
May 23, 2017
Stansons Group are delighted to have contributed and worked on the now complete Ripple Retreat project in Callander, Scotland.
The idea came from Lynne McNicoll, founder of the charity It’s Good To Give. The charity works to aid and assist children affected by cancer. Lynne’s vision was to create a special place for these children and their parents to escape, relax and enjoy some special quality time together.
The Retreat sits on the most picturesque southern bank of Loch Venachar, about an hour’s drive north of Edinburgh. The building design and materials used fully complement these magnificent surroundings. A fully glazed external façade makes the most of the impressive views across the loch and surrounding hills, whilst the wave effect roof mirrors the rippling waterside location.
The Ripple Retreat will offer these young patients and their families a 5-7 day no cost respite break. The bright and welcoming communal living space and fully accessible bedrooms are equipped to the highest of standards.
Sustainably built, the building has a very low carbon footprint, draws water from its own well and has full generator back-up should the need arise.
We are thrilled to have been associated with this project in providing a bespoke window roller blind shading solution in an array of soft pastels and vibrant colours. The system installed is fully motorised with programmable remote operation. Blind control can also be made using a customised app for Android devices, giving full control from anywhere in the world. RAL matched powder coated head boxes complement the external curtain walling.
Managing Partner of Stansons Group, Guy Stanley, says “Opportunities to work on such an iconic and unique building with such an amazing purpose is very rare and Stansons Group were delighted to freely provide their support and expertise to the project.”
Fundraising will be ongoing in order to support and maintain the running of this amazing retreat. Details can be found on their fundraising page.
