Kingsgate Primary School, Camden, London

Creating light, open spaces whilst controlling classroom glare

The popular and vibrant Kingsgate Primary School in Camden prides itself on being a lovely school, which is kept in a beautiful condition to reflect the high standards that it sets itself in all areas. As part of a recent development project for the whole school, it wanted to create a light, open and calm learning environment whilst stopping classroom glare.

Stansons was on hand to help provide a shading solution that left everyone feeling stress-free.

Neutral, relaxed tones

Rather than selecting bright, colourful blinds, typically favoured by primary schools, Kingsgate opted for light grey, neutral tones to create a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Since the installation, the school has noticed improved student behaviour.

Stansons solution

Stansons used its Armour System with a 3% screen fabric to allow a pleasant level of natural daylight filtration into the school whilst ensuring that classroom glare was kept to a minimum. A mix of motorised roof blinds, blackout roof units, heavy-duty roller blinds and pleated blinds were installed throughout the school. All blinds were supplied with white hardware, with both screen and blackout fabrics in a matching light grey to create a calm consistency.

A shading solution to help create a perfect learning environment

Kingsgate Primary School now has a state of the art learning environment that has been designed with the wellbeing and productivity of its pupils at its heart.

"Stansons performed well from start to finish, provided top quality advice up front, and produce a top quality product in completion, I've used Stansons a number of times now, and would certainly recommend their cooperation and willingness to work alongside the main contractor/design team.”
